Dental Insurance in Palmetto, FL

We help you pick a dental plan that fits the work your teeth actually need, not just the lowest premium. As an independent insurance agency, we put options from several carriers side by side and explain the waiting periods and limits in plain words.

What dental insurance does, and when it makes sense

Dental coverage is usually separate from your health plan. Most plans pay well for cleanings and checkups, less for fillings, and least for crowns, root canals and dentures. Each plan also has a yearly maximum, the most it will pay in a plan year. Once you reach it, the rest is on you.

So the right plan depends on what is going on in your mouth. If you only need two cleanings a year, a low-premium plan may be plenty. If your dentist has already mentioned a crown or an implant, look hard at waiting periods and the yearly cap before you sign anything.

We shop more than 50 insurance carriers, so we are not stuck pushing one company's plan. Our help is free to you. The carrier whose plan you end up picking pays us, so you never see a bill from our office.

What we go over with you

Your dentist, in or out of network
Tell us who you see. We check which plans list that office as in-network, so a visit does not end with a bigger bill than you expected.
Waiting periods by type of work
Many plans cover cleanings soon after they start but make you wait months for fillings or major work. We show you those timelines plan by plan.
Yearly maximums and deductibles
We put the yearly cap, the deductible and the premium next to each other. A cheap plan with a low cap can cost you more in a year with big dental work.
PPO or HMO-style plans
PPO plans let you see more dentists. HMO-style plans often cost less but keep you in a smaller network and may need a referral for specialists. We tell you which trade-off fits how you use the dentist.
Coverage for kids
Orthodontic benefits are limited and often apply only to children. For parents, we check how braces, sealants and kids' checkups are handled, and whether children's dental is already part of your health plan.
Help with enrollment
Once you choose, we go through the enrollment steps with you and tell you exactly when coverage starts.

Signs it is time to look at dental coverage

  • Your job-based plan ended

When employer coverage stops, dental usually goes with it. A standalone dental plan can fill that gap.

  • Your dentist mentioned bigger work

A crown, bridge or root canal is on the horizon. Waiting periods matter here, so the sooner a plan starts, the sooner that work can be covered.

  • You skip cleanings because of cost

Paying full price for checkups adds up, and skipped visits tend to turn small problems into big ones. A plan that pays for preventive visits can get you back on schedule.

  • Your health plan leaves out adult dental

Many health plans, including some marketplace plans, do not cover dental for adults. We can add a separate dental plan alongside your ACA marketplace plan or individual health insurance.

  • Your premium jumped at renewal

Carriers change prices and networks from year to year. A fresh comparison can turn up a better fit for the same dentist.

What sets the price of a dental plan

Dental plans generally cost less than health plans, yet prices still vary in ways that matter. The cheapest monthly premium does not always add up to the cheapest year. Here is what shifts the price.

People on the plan

A single adult pays less than a couple or a family. Adding kids changes the premium and often the benefits as well.

Kind of network

PPO plans with broad networks generally cost more than HMO-style plans that limit you to a fixed list of dentists.

Annual maximum

The more a plan will pay out in a year, the more its premium tends to be.

How long you wait

Plans that pay for major work sooner usually cost more. Longer waits generally mean a smaller monthly premium.

Your age and where you live

Carriers price by age and region, so a Palmetto quote may differ from one a friend received in another state.

How a dental plan review works

  1. 1

    A short first call

We ask who your dentist is, who needs coverage and what work might be coming. It is a free consultation with an advisor, by phone, video or at our office.

  2. 2

    We shop the carriers

We pull dental plans from multiple carriers and set aside anything that leaves out your dentist or does not cover what you need.

  3. 3

    Your options, side by side

You see each plan's premium, deductible, yearly maximum and waiting periods, plus what it pays for cleanings, fillings and major work. We answer questions until the numbers make sense.

  4. 4

    You decide, we enroll

There is no push to choose that day. When you are ready, we complete the enrollment with you and confirm your start date.

  5. 5

    Help after you sign up

If a claim confuses you or you want to know how the plan handles an upcoming visit, call us and we will read the plan with you.

Dental insurance questions we hear

Can I get dental insurance without health insurance?

Yes. Dental plans are sold on their own. You can buy one if your health coverage comes from somewhere else, or if you have none at all. If you want, we can show you health options on the same call.

Will a new plan cover work I need right now?

Usually not right away. Most plans cover exams and cleanings soon after they start, but put waiting periods on fillings and major work. Some plans also will not pay to replace a tooth that was missing before coverage began. We point out these rules before you enroll.

Do I have to wait for open enrollment?

Not for most standalone dental plans, which can often be bought any time of year. Dental added through the marketplace follows marketplace enrollment rules. We will tell you which one applies to you.

Will I get a bill for your time?

No. The consultation is free, and so is the plan comparison. Our pay comes from the insurance company whose plan you choose. You pay your premium to the carrier, the same as if you had enrolled on your own.

Is dental insurance worth it if my teeth are healthy?

It depends on your numbers. We add up a year of premiums and compare that with what your cleanings and checkups would cost without a plan. If a plan does not make sense for you, we will say so.

Can I get vision coverage at the same time?

Yes. Some carriers pair dental and vision, and we also shop vision insurance on its own. We will show you both ways so you can see which costs less.
