Family Health Insurance in Palmetto

Covering a family means more than one doctor, one set of medications and one budget. We sit down with you, look at every person on the plan, and lay out real family coverage options side by side. The consultation is free, and there is no fee for our help.

Coverage that fits everyone on it

Family health insurance puts a spouse and children under one policy, or sometimes splits them across two plans when that works out better. The right setup depends on ages, the doctors your kids already see, any ongoing medications, and how much you can handle in a bad year versus a quiet one.

We are an independent insurance agency, so we do not work for one carrier. We shop 50+ insurance carriers and show you what each one offers your family, plan by plan. If the cheapest premium leaves your kids without their pediatrician, we tell you.

We treat it the way we would want a neighbor to treat our own family's coverage. Plain answers, no pressure, and a plan you understand before you sign.

What we do for your family

A look at every person
We ask about each family member: age, doctors, medications, and anything coming up like a planned surgery or braces. That shapes which plans are worth comparing.
Side-by-side plan options
You see premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums and networks next to each other. We point out the family deductible versus the individual deductible, because that difference trips people up.
Doctor and medication checks
Before you pick, we check that your family doctor, pediatrician and usual medications are covered on the plans you like.
Subsidy and savings review
Many families qualify for help lowering the monthly premium on ACA Marketplace Plans. We check what your family income and size may qualify for.
Help with enrollment
Once you choose, we help you complete enrollment and confirm the plan is active. You are not left to finish the forms alone.
Add-ons when they make sense
Adult dental and vision often are not part of a medical plan. If you want them, we can add Dental Insurance or Vision Insurance and keep it all straight.

Times to recheck your family's coverage

  • Marriage or a new baby

Either one opens a special enrollment window, usually 60 days, to add a person or switch plans. Call us shortly after.

  • Your employer charges a lot for family coverage

Adding a spouse and kids to a work plan can get expensive. A private family plan, possibly with savings, sometimes comes in lower.

  • Your kids' doctor dropped out of network

Networks change from year to year. If your pediatrician is no longer in yours, it's time to compare plans.

  • Last year's bills ran higher than expected

If medical costs came in above what you planned for, your plan may not fit the way your family actually uses care.

  • Your oldest is about to turn 26

Young adults can stay on a parent's plan until 26 and then need their own. Our Individual Health Insurance page covers what comes next.

What moves the cost of family coverage

Family premiums are not one flat number. They are built from each person on the plan, the plan level you pick and where you live. Here is what moves the price most.

Ages of each person

Premiums are set by age for every adult on the plan. Marketplace pricing counts no more than three kids under 21, the oldest three. Any younger children beyond that add nothing to the premium, which helps bigger families.

Plan level and deductible

A lower premium usually means a higher deductible. We help you weigh that against how often your family sees the doctor.

Network type

HMO plans with a tighter network tend to cost less than PPO plans that let you see more doctors without a referral.

Family income and size

Your income and family size decide what savings you may qualify for on a Marketplace plan. That can change the monthly premium a great deal.

Tobacco use

Carriers can charge more for adults who use tobacco. We ask so the numbers you see are the numbers you will pay.

What happens from first call to coverage

  1. 1

    A quick first conversation

Call us and we'll go over your family, your doctors and what you can spend. We can meet at our office, by phone or on video, whichever suits you.

  2. 2

    We compare carriers

We gather plans from carriers serving Manatee County and trim them to the handful that suit your family, so you aren't sorting through a long list.

  3. 3

We review the choices with you

The plans sit side by side. Beyond the monthly premium, we show what a rough year would cost on each and answer all your questions.

  4. 4

    Signing up and checking in

You decide, we help you enroll, and we confirm the cards come and the plan is active. When open enrollment comes around, we review it with you again.

Family coverage questions we get

Do I pay extra by using you instead of signing up myself?

No. The consultation is free. We're paid by the carrier whose plan you pick, so our review costs you nothing and your premium stays the same.

Does the whole family have to be on one plan?

Not always. Kids on one plan and adults on another sometimes costs less, especially if one person has work coverage. We price it both ways and show which costs less for the care you use.

When are we allowed to sign up?

Open enrollment runs from fall into January. Outside it, a birth, marriage, move or lost coverage usually opens a special enrollment period of about 60 days. Call us and we'll check whether yours counts.

Will our kids keep their pediatrician?

Often they can. We look at each network before you choose, so you know which plans list your doctors. If none of the affordable ones do, we tell you and talk through the tradeoff.

Do we have to come to your office?

No. Plenty of families in Bradenton, Ellenton and nearby do everything by phone or video. You're also welcome to meet us in person at our office.

Is dental coverage available for the kids?

Children's dental often comes with a family medical plan or is sold alongside it. Adult dental usually does not. We'll show you both and add a separate plan when it's worth it.

Let's look at your family's options together

Give us the names of everyone to cover and the doctors you want to keep. From there we set plans from multiple carriers next to each other, so you choose knowing what each one does.
