Individual Health Insurance in Palmetto
Buying health coverage on your own is confusing. We sit down with you by phone, by video or at our office, and lay out plans from several carriers side by side. You see the premium, deductible and doctor network for each one before you pick.
A plan for one, chosen carefully
Individual health insurance is coverage you purchase yourself instead of getting it from an employer. It fits contractors and freelancers, people between jobs, part-time workers without benefits, those who retired before 65, and anyone who can't afford their employer's plan.
As an independent insurance agency, we don't answer to one carrier. We shop 50+ insurance carriers and show you each one's options, and the decision stays with you.
What we do is straightforward. We look for a plan that includes your current doctors at a premium you can manage, and we put the fine print in everyday words. We handle it the way we'd hope a neighbor would handle it for us.
How we help
- Plans compared together
- We put plans from several carriers on a single page. Premiums, deductibles, copays and out-of-pocket limits line up so you can see the trade-offs at a glance.
- Checking doctors and hospitals
- Let us know your doctors and the hospital you'd use in an emergency. We confirm whether each plan's network includes them before you enroll, not afterward.
- Checking your prescriptions
- For medications you take regularly, we search each plan's drug list. One drug can cost very different amounts from plan to plan.
- Possible savings
- Plenty of people who buy their own coverage qualify for an income-based premium tax credit. We help you find out if you're one of them. Our ACA Marketplace Plans page explains how those plans work.
- Help enrolling
- After you decide, we complete the application together on the call and make sure it's submitted correctly. We stay on until it's finished.
When an individual plan is worth a look
Your work coverage ended
Losing a job-based plan usually gives you a special enrollment window. It doesn't last long, so call shortly after your final day.
You're your own boss
Gig workers, contractors and small business owners often go without coverage. A plan in your own name stays with you whoever you work for.
Your renewal price went up
Rates and networks shift each year. Last year's good choice may not be the right one today.
You turned 26
You can stay on a parent's plan until 26. After that, it's time for coverage of your own.
You're new to the area
Plans and networks differ by county. If you recently came to Manatee County, your old plan may not include doctors here.
How it works, start to finish
- 1
Give us a call
We ask a few questions: your age, county, income range, doctors and medications. It takes about as long as a cup of coffee.
- 2
We shop the carriers
We pull plans from the carriers that sell in your area and narrow them down to the few that fit. No one gets pushed toward a single carrier.
- 3
We walk through the options with you
By phone, video or at our office, we go over each plan line by line. You ask anything you want, and we answer straight.
- 4
You pick, we help you enroll
When you're ready, we help you finish enrollment. If questions come up later about a bill or a claim, you can call us back.

What decides your plan's price
There's no charge for the consultation. The carrier you pick pays us, so our review is free to you. The plan's own price comes down to a few things, and we show you how each one shifts it.
- How old you are
- Individual premiums rise as you age. The same plan will be priced differently for someone at 30 and someone at 60.
- What you earn
- Your income determines whether you get a tax credit and how much. For a lot of people, nothing affects the monthly price more.
- Level of coverage
- Cheaper premiums tend to come with bigger deductibles. That can suit someone who seldom sees a doctor. For frequent visits, a fuller plan may cost less across the year.
- How big the network is
- Plans with fewer doctors and hospitals usually cost less. We check that the lower price doesn't drop the providers you already use.
- Tobacco
- Tobacco users can be charged more by carriers. We ask so the prices you see are accurate.
Common questions on individual coverage
Something not covered here? (941) 304-1818
When am I allowed to enroll?
Open enrollment opens each fall and ends in January. Outside that time, a qualifying life event such as a move, a marriage, a new baby or losing work coverage lets you sign up. You usually get about 60 days after the event, so call soon.
Is it more expensive to buy through you?
No. You pay the same plan price either way. We're paid by the carrier you choose, so our help is free.
Will my doctor be in the plan?
Usually, yes. We search each plan's network for your doctors before you decide, and we tell you right away if one is missing.
Are you limited to one carrier?
No. As an independent agency we shop 50+ insurance carriers and show you the plans that fit, no matter which carrier sells them.
What if my spouse or children need coverage as well?
A family plan might work better than several single plans. Our Family Health Insurance page explains it, and we can price both options during the same call.
